BUTLER CO., AL (WSFA) -

Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden says two people are in custody after a chase and crash on Interstate 65 Monday.

Law enforcement was chasing the stolen vehicle on I-65 southbound when the vehicle crashed and rolled over near mile marker 139 about seven miles north of Greenville.

The female driver was taken into custody immediately after the crash. A male passenger fled the scene and was captured Monday night.

Harden said the vehicle was stolen in Montgomery.

Montgomery police confirmed they initiated a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle, but the vehicle refused to stop. MPD units stopped pursuing the vehicle on I-65 for the safety of the public and police officers. It's unclear how the chase restarted.
