STEVENSON, AL (WAFF) -

Some areas of Jackson County experienced some flooding Monday due to heavy rainfall.

Most of the problems were reported in the Stevenson area.

Officials with the Emergency Management Agency and Public Works said it's kind of unusual, because they don't normally have this kind of flooding in that area.

County Road 170 just off Highway 117 was the first area to be blocked off due to flooding.

Public works officials said flooding was also reported on County Roads 158 and 258 as well.

It is believed several inches of rain fell quickly over the area, causing drainage ditches to be overtaken by water.

On County Road 170, some travelers saw the detour and heeded the advice.

Public works officials said once the water recedes, the barricades will be taken down and roads reopened.

They said they also had some issues with fallen trees in the area as well.
