JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro woman appeared in court on Friday to face charges in a theft investigation.

According to court documents, Tabetha Jean Reeves, 34, is charged with residential burglary and Theft.

One of thefts reportedly happened in June. The victims told police someone burglarized their home. Court documents revealed there was no forced entry. The victims said Reeves was at their house while they were gone.

During a June interview, Reeves denied the allegation. She said she was only in the house to "retrieve a lost button and once she didn't find it, she left."

Months later, Investigators said Reeves contacted them. Reeves reportedly told investigators she and the victim reached an agreement to avoid charges.

On August 13 and 14, investigators said she returned the stolen items. The victim identified a set of rings as hers, but a computer Reeves returned didn't belong to the victim.

If convicted, Reeves could face 5 to 20 years in prison and a $15,000 fine for the burglary charge, and up to 6 years in prison and a $10,000 dollar fine for the theft charge.

She'll appear again in court on September 26 at 8:30 a.m.
