GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Guntersville wants to build new airplane hangars at the city's airport.

Council members are expected to discuss the topic at Monday's council meeting. The new construction is part of a major renovation project that includes a new 5,000 foot runway.

The new runway conflicts with the current location of 14 hangars, so the city is looking to demolish the old ones and building new ones. The first phase of the new runway is expected to be completed early next year.
