HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The ground breaking ceremony for the Town Madison Cooperative District will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Governor Robert Bentley along with the President of Breland Companies, Chairman Dale Strong, Madison County Commissioner Steve Haraway, Mayor Troy Trulock and Madison City Council President Tommy Overcash will be attending the ceremony.

The Town Madison ground breaking ceremony is to celebrate the creation of this district and to announce the major retail, office, entertainment, dining and residential opportunities it will create as well as a timeline for the development.

The ceremony will take place off of Zierdt Road south of I-565.

No tenants for the 625,000 square foot shopping center have been announced, but similar sized developments from the development company include Macy's, World Market, and Nordstrom Rack.

Residents in nearby neighborhoods are concerned about how the development will impact their subdivisions. Members of the homeowners association want to know exactly what is going to be built on the 700 acre district south of I-565.

Aside from rumors, no official announcement has been made about what is going to be built there, but an announcement is expected on Tuesday morning at the groundbreaking.
