HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The man accused of killing his wife and son will have to undergo an outpatient mental examination to determine if he's competent to stand trial.
Stephen Marc Stone is charged with two counts of capital murder.
Stone is accused of strangling his wife to death and choking and drowning their 7-year-old son in February 2013. It happened at their home on Chicamauga Trail in Huntsville.
Monday, the judge ordered an outpatient evaluation for Stone.
According to court documents, the results will determine if he's competent to stand trial and his mental state at the time of the killings.
