FLORENCE, AL (AP) - The suspect in a Florence bank robbery case was in court on Monday.

Timothy Bryan Standfield's bond has been set at $150,000.

When Bank Independent was robbed over the weekend, investigators said the suspect fit a similar description of a bank robbery at First Metro Bank in July.

Standfield was arrested and charged with three counts of robbery after robbing Bank Independent on Cox Creek Parkway, First Metro Bank on Cloverdale Road and Bank Independent on Darby Drive.

Police credit the quick thinking of an alert citizen for helping track Standfield down.

"A witness saw an individual carrying a gun, dressed in a dark-colored raincoat, jump into a blue Ford F-150 with a large Alabama 'A' sticker in the back window and flee the area," said Brad Holmes with Florence police. "We're very fortunate in this situation that the community was looking out for suspicious activity in that area."

Holmes said his department credited the ABI and FBI agents who were also involved in the investigation with their teamwork in apprehending the suspect.

According to Florence Police, additional charges are likely in other jurisdictions.
