No bond for Coffee Co. nurse in death investigation

Posted: Updated:
DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Bond has been denied for Diana Marie Malphus Jacobs, charged with concealing a dead body. The Judge cited a significant risk of intimidating witnesses.

The judge also says Jacobs has a criminal history, all minor offenses.

Defense Attorney Jill Starling says says that Jacobs is a nurse at The Rosewood Manor assisted living facility.

The Secretary of State's website indicates that her LPN status is probation-lapsed. Her license was issued in 2004 and expired on March 31, 2011 with the last renewal date on March 26, 2009. Her license was suspended on January 14, 2008 after she plead guilty to a burglary charge in April 2007 in Berrien County. It was reinstated with a five year probationary period in June of 2009.

A body was found buried behind an assisted living center in Nicholls, and Jacobs was taken into custody.

Sheriff Doyle Wooten says his investigators got a tip, went to Rosewood Manor to question the woman Friday afternoon, and she admitted there was a body buried in a shed. GBI crime scene experts spent hours excavating the body.

Investigators must wait for an autopsy, but they think the body is that of a man who was a resident at Rosewood Manor. They're not sure the circumstances of his death or who may have been involved in burying him.
