Butler Co. volunteer fire truck found after being stolen

BUTLER CO., AL (WSFA) -

Authorities have found the fire truck that they say was stolen from a Butler County Volunteer Fire Station.

The truck was found on Oakwood Drive in Luverne which is in Crenshaw County. Luverne Police say that no one was located with the vehicle.

Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden said that the truck was stolen from the Central Volunteer fire station on Halso Mill Road sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The truck was a red 1986 Chevy one ton diesel truck with Central Fire Department decals on the side.

Sheriff Harden said the truck is a "brush" truck, which has a 300 gallon tank on it to battle brush fires.

Initial investigation shows that there was no forced entry at the fire station.
