MORRIS, AL (WBRC) -

Two bicyclists are in critical condition after they were hit by a motorist on Highway 31, near Morris Majestic Road in Jefferson County.

It happened at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Spokesman Chief Deputy Randy Christian says the two cyclists were hit after a car changed lanes to avoid the cyclists. The driver behind that vehicle apparently didn't see the cyclists and hit the two.

Both cyclists, a 55-year old man and a 48-year old man, are hospitalized in critical condition. The driver of the car was not injured.

There is no word yet on whether charges will be filed against the motorist.
