PHIL CAMPBELL, AL (WAFF) -

Students in Franklin County headed back to school on Friday. For Phil Campbell students, that meant classes in church buildings as they anxiously await the completion of their new school.

Although the temporary classrooms might not be perfect everyone seemed to agree it's better than the mobile units.

Mountain View Baptist Church was one of three local churches to open their doors to Phil Campbell High School. An E-F 5 tornado destroyed parts of the school back in April 2011, causing the district to knock down the old building and start over.

Pastor Sammy Taylor said the decision to let the school use their facility was a no-brainer. In fact, he said it's kind of ironic because their congregation was actually formed in a school back in 1921, and it seems to have come full circle.

“We're excited about this,” said Pastor Sammy Taylor of Mountain View Baptist Church. “We said it's a way to minister to our community, and God's blessed us by giving us a building to use and we want to use it as a tool to minister to our community.”
