COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Investigators say they will have no new updates until Friday on an officer-involved shooting that happened at the Brook Pines Apartments off Broad River Road on Wednesday.

Police say two men were shot by police officers Wednesday afternoon around 1 p.m. after investigators say one man hit an officer with a car.

CPD spokesperson Jennifer Timmons says officers with CPD and the Richland County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene.

Officers were at the scene to serve a warrant on a man wanted in connection with two carjackings in the Harbison Boulevard area that happened early Monday morning.

Chief Skip Holbrook and Sheriff Leon Lott say officers were serving warrants at the apartment complex on two men who tried to run. One of the men hit a Columbia Police officer with his car, and that's when investigators say police fired shots.

Officers from SLED, the Richland County Sheriff's Department and the Columbia Police Department opened fire at the vehicle.

Both suspects were shot. Their conditions and names have not been released, but both are in the hospital.

Lott says the suspect will be charged once released from the hospital.

The officer has been treated for minor injuries and released according to Timmons.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is now in charge of the investigation because other agencies were involved in the shooting.

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
