LINCOLN COUNTY, TN (WAFF) -

Things are almost "back to normal" at South Lincoln Elementary School.

Months after a tornado knocked the school out of commission, destroying 19 classrooms, staff spent Tuesday accepting deliveries of new furniture, applying last coats of paint, and beginning the arrangement of the new rooms.

"Insurance covered a lot of the items that belonged to the school," said Principal John Fanning. "We've had several organizations that gave additional money for items the teachers may need."

Over the course of the next week, more furniture and supplies will be delivered and teachers will ensure they are ready to welcome kids back.

"I'm waiting on them to bring in my bookshelves and desks so I can set up my students' work areas," said third-grade teacher Stacey Price. "Over the course of this weekend, next week, we'll be making sure we get our rooms arranged."

Lincoln County Schools will be back in session August 18.
