HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The teacher facing suspension from the Huntsville City School system was in the classroom for the first day back from summer vacation.

Eleanor Burks will start the new school year teaching students until her suspension goes into effect August 18. She will not be paid from that point until her suspension expires September 8.

Burks was suspended after the school board found that she violated testing polices the previous school year. Officials allege Burks helped a student change an answer on a standardized test.

Stan McDonald, Burks' attorney, has filed a motion on her behalf appealing the school board's decision.
