HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A parents and students prepare to head back to school on Tuesday, Ed White and Davis Hills Middle Schools will combine into one new school in Huntsville.

The new school is called McNair Junior High.

For now, classes will be held in the old Davis Hills building.

"We're bringing together the two cultures of Ed White and Davis Hills to make McNair Junior High School," said principal Michael Morris.

Crews have been transforming the building all summer long. Last spring, students voted to make black, royal blue, and white their school colors.

"I want them to see nothing but the McNair culture," said Morris.

Along with the new school, comes a new principal. Morris said he has big plans and high standards.

"I want to make sure that it's a school that will be seen as a high achieving school that nationally other schools will want to come in and say, 'hey, what are they doing there that's making such achievement with their kids.'"

The brand new building will be ready for the 2016 school year.
