First day of school for thousands of kids in the Valley

Good morning!

Here's what we're working on in the WAFF newsroom:

Today is the first day of school for thousands of students around the Valley.  Huntsville, Madison, and Madison County start class today.

A lot of students will eat for free this year.  A federal program will allow 25 schools within the Huntsville City School District to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students, regardless of family income. http://bit.ly/1v5wzhY

WAFF's Muriel Bailey will have more details beginning at 5am.

In Morgan County, you may want to think twice before passing a school bus.  They are now equipped with video cameras to catch drivers breaking the law.

The goal is to stop people from passing buses when they are unloading or loading children.  If someone drives past a bus that has its stop sign out, a camera will capture a picture of both the license plate and the driver.

We'll have these stories and more on WAFF 48 News Today.
