HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

It's Armed Forces Week in the Tennessee Valley.

The party kicks off Monday night with a big performance from the 389th Army band at Big Spring Park.

After the concert, there will be a fireworks show, sponsored by Remington.

"This community is probably unlike any other community in the country," said Joe Fitzgerald, chair of the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee. "We celebrate, we honor our armed forces for an entire week. We don't have an armed forces day, we have an Armed Forces Week. And we have activities throughout the week, honoring our personnel."

There are lots of other events planned for the rest of the week, including soldier shows at the Von Braun Center, a Purple Heart ceremony, softball games, and on Saturday, five Tuskegee Airmen will be at the US Space and Rocket Center for a red tail ceremony.
