Recently more bars and restaurants in downtown Huntsville are getting on the "Non Smoking" bandwagon, and telling customers to step outside or away from their establishment if they want to light a cigarette. Cities like Winston-Salem North Carolina have been smokeless in restaurants and bars for years. Huntsville and Alabama however are still hesitant to ban smoking indoors. Cigarette sales continue to drop nationwide as Nonsmokers make up the majority of our communities. Non Smoking policies have been a smart business decision for local restaurants and bars. When people are eating or drinking they want to enjoy the smell of the food not smoke. If you really want to smoke all you have to do is walk out the doors of your favorite establishment. So until there is a ban on smoking in public places, hats off to the businesses who are taking it upon themselves to keep the majority of their patrons happy.
