Federal investigators take case involving Madison Co. deputies

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A lawsuit involving the Madison County Sheriff's Office has turned is now a federal civil rights investigation. 

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation will look into Robert Bryant's claims that deputies beat him up on two separate occasions in 2012.

The Chief Deputy for Madison County said all deputies involved are still on the job and have not been disciplined. Any type of internal investigation will take place after the FBI completes its investigation and it is handed over to the Department of Justice.

Bryant and the Sheriff's Department reached a $625,000 settlement in the lawsuit.
