ATLANTA (CBS46) -

If ice cream doesn't melt, does it mean it's not real?

That's what a South Dakota radio DJ attempted to prove.

Dan Collins, of KIKN 100.5 in Sioux Falls, heard that the Walmart Great Value brand ice cream sandwiches won't melt in the sun. So, he put it to the test.

Even after 75 minutes in the sun, the ice cream didn't melt. However, the Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream scoop he put next to it melted quickly.

Here are the ingredients of the ice cream sandwich listed on Walmart's website:

Ice Cream: (Milk, Cream, Buttermilk, Sugar, Whey, Corn Syrup, Contains 1% Or Less of Mono-And Diglycerides, Vanilla Extract, Guar Gum, Calcium Sulfate, Carob Bean Gum, Cellulose Gum, Carrageenan, Artificial Flavor, Annatto For Color)

Wafers: (Wheat Flour, Sugar, Soybean Oil, Palm Oil, Cocoa, Dextrose, Caramel Color, Corn Syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Flour, Food Starch-Modified, Salt Soy Lecithin, Baking Soda, Artificial Flavor).

For a comparison, here are the Blue Bunny ice cream ingredients:

Ingredients: Milk, Cream, Skim Milk, Sugar, Egg Yolks, Natural Vanilla Extract and Vanilla Bean Specks.

So does that mean it's not real ice cream? You be the judge.
