WELSH, LA (KPLC) - According to Welsh Police Chief Marcus Crochet, 14-year-old Gabrielle Nicole Richard has been found alive and well.

She had been reported missing earlier this week. According to authorities, she had not been seen since about 9:30 p.m. on Monday at her home on Elm St.

Richard left her home of her own free will and was not kidnapped, investigators said.

"The men and women of the Welsh Police Department worked very hard tracking down information for more than 18 hours (on this case)," said Welsh Police in a statement.

"Yes, we searched every sex offender's residence in the city limits of Welsh, after (receiving) permission from the homeowners. We had very little information to start off with... We are very pleased with the outcome and would like to thank the many citizens who called in information," the statement read.

The Allen Parish Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation of this case.
