Ardmore man uses shotgun to escape burning home

ARDMORE, AL (WAFF) -

Firefighters in Limestone County are investigating the cause of a fire in a home on Cedar Hill Road.

The mother of the homeowner said her son was the only one home when the fire started around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

His dogs started barking and woke him up.

The man was forced to use a shotgun to break out a window to get out.

He was not injured, but his dogs died.

The man has a 15-month old son, but he was not there.
