DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur City Schools superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols received positive feedback in his yearly evaluation.

Board of Education members presented their findings during Monday night's meeting.

According to the board, Nichols excelled in his job of leading the school district. They cited better grades, higher test scores and financial security.

Dr. Nichols said he is proud of his evaluation, but looks forward to improving in the future.

"There is a lot on the horizon, so when people say 'What are we going to do?,' you're going to get better at what you're doing now - every day," said Nichols.

Dr. Nichols has been superintendent since 2012, when he replaced Sam Houston.
