LEE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) -

The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on Sunday after a domestic argument led to a shooting.

The Sheriff's Office received a call at 7:15 p.m. reporting a shooting that occurred at a residence on County Road 831 in the Salem community, which is southeast of Opelika.

According to the Sheriff's report, the caller identified himself as 80-year-old Willie J. Anderson and stated that he had shot his daughter.

When authorities arrived at the residence, they found 48-year-old Charlene Anderson in the yard suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim was then transported to East Alabama Medical Center where she underwent surgery for her wound.

Charlene told deputies that she lived at the residence with her father and that the shooting occurred after an argument took place when she attempted to warm some food in the microwave.

Willie Anderson was taken into custody without incident at the scene and charged with first degree domestic violence.

A 9 millimeter handgun was recovered at the residence and is believed to be the weapon involved in the shooting.

Anderson is being detained at the Lee County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at $30,000.
