HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville City Schools now has a new way to help emergency responders during a situation.

The school system unveiled an Event Response Communications Vehicle on Monday and they will be testing the equipment on Tuesday.

The satellite truck can be used by responders during a storm, active shooter situation, or other types of emergencies at a school. It provides direct access to security cameras inside school buildings as well as internet access.

"It was a game-changer after April 2011 for everyone in the Tennessee Valley," said Keith Ward, Director of Communications. "Everyone looked at what they were able to do and what they needed. We were like a lot of others that were just simply cut off and didn't have the communications we needed in place."

The communications vehicle will be tested Tuesday at Huntsville High School.
