FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - A Florence man was arrested after being pulled over in what police say was a stolen truck.

Muscle Shoals police stopped 51-year-old Eric Jerome Vaughn on Monday morning. They said he was in a stolen truck with a stolen trailer.

Florence police said the truck was reported stolen on Sunday from Houston Street.

Vaughn was also charged in two business burglaries.

Investigators said he was caught on surveillance video breaking into D&D Market and Lil' Steve's on Cloverdale Road. Store owners said the break-ins are causing more damage to their stores than the value of the items stolen.

During this latest string of crimes, police say Vaughn was out of jail on bond after being charged with three business burglaries in April.

Lil' Steve's owner, Steve Modas, said he is glad Vaughn is behind bars and hopes he stays there.

"I actually grew up with him, and hopefully he's had enough arrests that they'll keep him locked up for a long time," Modas said. "Nothing is going to slow him down; he got on this path years ago and I need it stopped."

Investigators are reviewing more cases of stolen trailers in the Shoals area. Anyone who has purchased a trailer from Vaughn should call Florence police at 256-760-6583.
