BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham's odds of landing the 2016 Democratic National Convention just improved.

Cleveland, Ohio is dropping out of the running to host the DNC after Republicans picked the city for their convention last week.

Columbus, Ohio; New York City; Philadelphia; and Phoenix, Arizona are also on the list.

Members of the selection committee for the convention will be in the Magic City next week.

Iron City is hosting a DNC Pitch Party on Monday, July 21 to help show off the city's attractions. Registration must be made in advance but admission is free. After 8 p.m. on Monday, tickets are first come, first served. Click here for more information.
