COLLINSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Arrest warrants are being drawn up for two people after 27 dogs were found at a DeKalb County home in extremely poor living conditions.

One dog collapsed while it was being recovered from the property. Collinsville said they were in such poor condition, 18 of them had to be put to sleep.

Two people will soon be facing multiple counts of animal cruelty charges. That after a tip led Collinsville police to a home on Gregory Avenue on Wednesday morning. Approximately 27 dogs were rounded up, most were in poor condition.

Police said they found the skeletons of three dogs on the premises and two other dogs had died and were decaying. The animals were taken to the DeKalb County Adoption Center. Assistant Chief Rex Leath said approximately nine dogs are in good health and are being adopted out. Leath said six already have been, but a few still remain.
