DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police said a man stole nearly $2,000 worth of cell phones from an area Walmart earlier this month.

The report was given July 1 at the Spring Avenue Walmart store. The night before, video surveillance captured a man taking 11 cell phones valued at just over $1,800, concealing them, and leaving the store.

Investigators identified the suspect as Christopher Raeshawn Emerson and was brought in for questioning Wednesday.

Emerson was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree theft.

He was transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bond.
