COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

A traffic stop in Covington County on Wednesday led to the arrest of four individuals.

According to reports, Sheriff's Deputy Paige Spivey stopped a vehicle on Antioch Road after observing that the driver was William Jason Weed. Deputy Spivey had prior knowledge of an outstanding Felony Violation of Probation warrant for Weed, and decided to make the stop at Antioch Store.

When Deputy Spivey approached the vehicle, Weed fled from the scene on foot towards the back of the store. After engaging in a foot pursuit, Deputy Spivey lost sight of the suspect.

Spivey then returned to the vehicle to stop it again after hearing it crank up. He detained the driver, Tina Ann Weed, wife of the suspect, Shane Allen Jackson and Linda Stanton Jackson, which were passengers in the vehicle.

All of the passengers in the vehicle refused to cooperate with the investigation. They were charged with hindering prosecution and resisting arrest which are misdemeanor charges.

The Department of Human Resources was also contacted due to several small children being in the vehicle.

As other deputies arrived at the scene, Deputy Spivey called the Covington County Sheriff's Posse tracking team for assistance.

Deputies received information that Weed asked a citizen for a ride, and was dropped off at the intersection of Antioch Road and Rose Hill Road.

The tracking team was able to track the suspect through a cotton field to Five Points Road where he was apprehended by a deputy.

Sheriff Dennis Meeks stated that the Sheriff's Posse tracking team's dogs were instrumental in the capture of the suspect.

Weed was arrested and transported to the Covington Co Jail.
