Our editorial earlier last week focusing on recent arrests of Alabama and Auburn football players lead to the following feedback on wsfa.com and our WSFA 12 News station Facebook page…here is just a sampling:
Kenny responded with, "A drunk driver killed my son and two of his friends in 2000. These spoiled college athletes need to be forced to attend every funeral in this area for a year with a sign around their neck that says "I was arrested for driving under the influence." Luckily no one died as a result of what they did but if they continue there is a good chance it could happen."
John provided the following, "Rarely do I agree with anything the editorial staff at WSFA comments on, but this I totally agree with. These are not mistakes....mistakes are adding 3 plus 3 and getting 7. These are choices and if you choose to commit these acts, there is a price to pay. You are never helping someone by not allowing them to pay the price for their choices."
Cyndi says, "What about the honor student who is a non athlete who got a DUI or was arrested for a misdemeanor possession charge? Kick him/her out and take their scholarship away too because they made a mistake? Discipline them and if they mess up again then maybe. If people think a majority of college kids aren't partying they are very naive. Let's kick them all out (that was sarcasm)."
Lastly BJ writes, "Drugs and DUIs should end it for them… they know they are breaking the law."
As always, we encourage and appreciate your feedback.
