Alabama coach Nick Saban will not be answering questions at SEC Media Days until Thursday, but more than 1,000 people heard him speak in Huntsville Tuesday night.

Saban was the keynote speaker at the largest fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club at the Von Braun Center. It was the second time he has made an appearance at this event.

Organizers of the 5th Annual Leaders & Legends Dinner wanted Saban to speak because of the example he sets on and off the field with his own organization, "Nick's Kids." The event is a fundraiser, but organizers said it's also about raising awareness.

They said most don't know that the Boys & Girls Club has served the North Alabama community for 76 years. The money will help operate the 10 facilities between Madison and Limestone Counties, provide transportation to-and-from schools, pay for computers and art supplies for children who need it most.

"We serve a lot of kids from broken homes and broken families, but we believe that if kids are exposed to the arts and get them out of their normal community that may have negative influences, they have an opportunity to succeed," said Patrick Wynn, President of Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama.

Tuesday's event was sold-out, but if you are still looking to help outside of monetary support, you can always donate your time by mentoring a child or volunteering.
