LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- StudyMode, an ed-tech company dedicated to helping students succeed in school, has been named one of 2014's Best Places to Work in Los Angeles. The program, created by the Los Angeles Business Journal and Best Companies Group, is in its eighth year.

"We've worked hard to make StudyMode a company where people are passionate about what they do and love coming to work, and we're proud to be recognized as one of Los Angeles' Best Places to Work," said StudyMode co-founder and CEO Blaine Vess. "Whenever we look to bring in a new team member, one of our primary considerations is selecting someone who will enjoy and enhance our company culture."

StudyMode, founded in 1999, is headquartered in West Hollywood. Vess and his team have created a collaborative work environment that encourages self-direction and personal responsibility. StudyMode employees enjoy perks including regular catered lunches, massage chairs, flexible hours, fully paid health coverage for employees and their dependents, and a casual dress code.

Companies from across the county entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Los Angeles. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Los Angeles, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.

The actual rankings will be revealed at a special event on August 19, 2014, then published in the August 25, 2014 issue of the Los Angeles Business Journal.
