Minneapolis Personal Help proudly announces the launch of their new Minneapolis personal drug abuse rehab website. The site founder wishes to help those who find they are addicted to one or more drugs, as drug addiction affects every aspect of a person’s life, including their relationships with others.

“Drug abuse impacts a person in a number of ways. From their finances and employment to the effect of the drug abuse on friends and family, no area remains untouched. Minneapolis Personal Help wishes to help those who find they cannot control their use of one or more drugs, by offering information on drug rehabilitation, what it entails, and where to seek help,” Nam Nguyen, founder of Minneapolis Personal Help, declares.

Drug abuse remains rampant in the United States today. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reports that during their National Survey on Drug Use and Health, completed in 2009, they found that 23.5 million Americans ages 12 and over required treatment for abuse of alcohol or an illicit drug. This accounts for 9.3 percent of the population in this age group. Of those individuals, 2.6 millions obtained treatment through a specialty facility.

“Finding the right specialty facility continues to be something many struggle with. One needs to consider the experience of staff members with treating the drug of addiction, the licensing and accreditation of the center, the treatment team, and more. Facilities under consideration need to be clean and well maintained, and the facility needs to customize the treatment plan to meet the needs of each patient. Consumers must research different facilities and what to look for when choosing to ensure the right fit for their loved one,” Nguyen explains.

Relapse rates remain high for those suffering from drug addiction. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 40 to 60 percent of addicts relapse at one time or another. Many facilities now offer multi-stage treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, and ongoing. Family and friends need to be aware of the signs of a relapse to assist the addict quickly also. The Institute explains the similarities between drug addiction and other chronic illnesses, including hypertension and asthma.

As Nguyen points out, long term recovery relies on the addict participating in support programs both during and following their treatment in the inpatient facility. Recovery isn’t a sprint, but a marathon, and the drug addict, along with his or her friends and family members, must understand this and be prepared to go the distance.

The longer one abstains from drug use, the better the odds of a sustained recovery, yet one must continue in an active and ongoing disease management program. Those suffering from high blood pressure may need to take drugs or exercise and maintain their weight for the rest of their life, along with making other lifestyle changes, while asthmatics often need to take maintenance drugs for the rest of their life. Drug addicts must look to the long term when creating their treatment plan.

“Every individual needs to sit down with trained experts to develop this treatment plan. For some, it involves mentoring others who are suffering from an addiction. Others find they need extended counseling sessions. As with any medical issue, a one size fits all approach doesn’t work when it comes to drug addiction. Addicts and their loved ones must understand this to see progress,” Nguyen states.
