HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A burglary suspect who escaped police while still handcuffed, was recaptured shortly before 5 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Police said the incident started earlier Monday afternoon on Coffee Drive between Patton Road and Morgan Street in Huntsville. Officials said they caught two men breaking into a home on Coffee Drive.

Both suspects took off, running from officers. Police caught up to one of the men, 19-year-old Preston Lee Bryant, who reportedly had a gun. While putting the second man, 17-year-old Marcus Bradham, in handcuffs, the suspect ran off. He was not wearing a shirt and had lost one shoe in the process.

A resident saw the scene unfold before him.

"The man jumped the fence with handcuffs on and was running down the field," said Jim Durrill. "I started to get out of the truck, and when I looked, they were dealing with the man on the ground."

After searching the nearby area, police finally caught back up with the second suspect and put him back into custody, flanked by many more officers.

Police said Bryant faces a burglary charge. Bradham is charged with burglary and escape. He is also charged with two counts of first-degree robbery in relation to an incident on Thurman Road on Sunday night.
