Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Organizers of Alabama's 4-H program say $400,000 in funding is expected to help counties expand their local youth development programs.

Alabama Cooperative Extension System Director Greg Lemme tells the TimesDaily (http://bit.ly/W0Yno6 ) a $400,000 commitment from the Alabama 4-H Club Foundation is one of the largest in the program's history.

Development officer for the Alabama 4-H Club Foundation Gaylon Grace says the money is meant to help counties form better programs by having one agent dedicated to each individual county. Regional agents currently oversee activities in two counties.
