DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur man faces multiple drug charges after officers said they found a meth lab in his car.

It happened Thursday during a traffic stop at the intersection of Sandlin Road and Everett Drive.

Officers stopped a car driven by Stephen Michael Morrissey after he failed to stop at a stop sign. Morrissey had a suspended driver's license and no proof of insurance.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered items consistent with a meth lab in the trunk, along with finished meth and a firearm.

Morrissey was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance in the first degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. He was additionally charged with carry of a pistol without a permit, running a stop sign, and driving while suspended.

Bond was set at $11,500.
