MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Marshall County woman says the U.S. Postal Service stopped delivering to a special mailbox next to her home nearly two weeks ago. She said she got a note to put her mailbox back on a busy highway, and has 10 days to comply.

For the last four years, Eula Todd has made the short trip to her Hustleville Road mailbox near her home just outside of Albertville. At 86, it is still a struggle, but a manageable one, especially considering she has had both knees replaced.

She took a doctor's note to the post office, and the carrier has been making the rounds in her circular driveway and dropping her mail off there, instead of at the busy road, much farther away.

But nearly two weeks ago, she got word she was going to have to put her mailbox back on the busy highway. She said it had caused her much stress and led to her family becoming involved when she recently fainted.

The Postal Service has said they have reached a resolution to the issue. Eula said a post office representative came to her residence Thursday afternoon and picked up her mail. The USPS said her carrier will resume service to her home on their route Friday.
