HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A Madison County man who pleaded guilty to killing his wife wants to delay his sentencing hearing until next month.

Timothy Chambers shot and killed his wife, Shirley, at their home in New Hope in 2011.

The sentencing hearing for Chambers is scheduled for Thursday, but his attorney filed a motion to continue the hearing until August.

The defense said an expert witness they plan to call to testify during the hearing can't travel to Huntsville until August.

The Assistant District Attorney assigned to the case doesn't oppose the motion.

Chambers faces up to life in prison.
