Birmingham police say a mother will face charges after reporting her son missing. They say she didn't remember giving him to a relative Sunday night.

Police say April Holloway reported her 5-year-old son Jadarian missing late Monday morning.

After an extensive search, police say they were contacted by Holloway's cousin, who said she had Jadarian.

The cousin told police that she saw Holloway and the child at a local gas station between 11 p.m. and midnight on Sunday.

The cousin said Holloway appeared to be very intoxicated and agreed to take Jaderian home with her.

Police said Holloway has no recollection of any of this taking place and will now face charges.

Birmingham Police Sgt. Sean Edwards said investigators will speak to the magistrate on Tuesday to determine what Holloway will be charged with. He said it may be related to neglect.

He added that the 5-year-old and his 14-year-old brother will be taken into DHR custody.

Before this new development, FOX6 News spoke with Holloway about her son's alleged disappearance.

She said she awoke Monday morning and noticed her son was missing. She asked her other son where the boy was and he said he didn't know.

Holloway said she then contacted family members and no one had seen the boy. That's when she said she called police.

She made a plea to the public on Monday to help find her son.

"It's scary because that's my baby son and I want him home. I need everybody to help me find my son, please," she said.
