NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Police have named two suspects wanted for attempted murder in a New Orleans East shootout.

Police say Aranton Johnson, 26, and Brandon Tucker, 25, were engaged in a shootout with a mother and her son on June 28. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact police.

The incident happened on around 9:10 p.m. in the 7100 block of Restgate Road. Officers say that a victim went outside to check on his dog who was barking. While outside, officials say the victim was confronted by suspects who attempted to gain entry into his home.

The victim called for his mother, who armed herself and shot at the suspects, police say. Authorities say one suspect returned fire, striking the woman in the upper body.

Police say the woman dropped the gun and her son retrieved the weapon. The son fired at the suspects who fled the scene.

Police say they expect to identify more suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111.
