FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - Authorities are investigating following a bank robbery in Florence.

Police responded around 11:30 a.m. to the First Metro Bank on Cloverdale Road. Police said the man walked into the bank, gun drawn, and demanded money. According to police, two witnesses eating at a restaurant next door saw the man run across the parking lot and called police while he was inside.

Police searched the field behind the bank, where they found some money the man dropped during his escape. Tips led authorities towards the Heathrow Community. Officers and K-9 units conducted a search of the area.

Later reports indicated the man may be headed towards Tennessee in a light-colored Ford F-150 crew-cab pickup truck.

Florence police released photos of the offender on their Facebook page. Anyone with information should call Florence police.
