To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - Authorities released the names of the people found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Athens on Wednesday. Athens police said Robin Shen Hu and his mother, May Chao Mei Hu, were found dead at a home on Longview Street.

Authorities discovered the bodies after a UPS driver went to the home and found a note on the door that prompted him to call police. Investigators believe Robin shot his mother before turning the gun on himself. While Police Chief Floyd Johnson said what they found at the scene is indicative of murder-suicide, that is not the final determination, as the investigation is ongoing.

The family was well-known in Athens. Chief Johnson said he knew them from the time the family owned a restaurant called the Mayflower years ago, and said May Hu was the kind of person that made someone feel better about themselves.

"May was a kind and caring person," Johnson remembered. "She always left you feeling special about yourself. She had a way of making you feel good, and people enjoyed that. She had a personality that when you saw her, you were happy to see her."

Police were told Robin Hu was very ill and required dialysis treatments. It is one of the factors investigators are looking into as they try to piece together what happened at the Hu residence Wednesday.
