Deputies: Shooting victim driven to restaurant 5 miles away
Good Wednesday evening and Happy Hump Day.
We’re busy gathering the latest developments in a shooting in the DeKalb County town of Powell. It happened on Wigley Avenue earlier this evening. Authorities tell us the shooting victim was able to make their way to the Burger King in Rainsville before being taken to the hospital with serious injuries. WAFF 48’s Charles Molineaux is on the scene and will have the very latest details at 10.
We’re also continuing to dig for details in a murder-suicide in Athens we first told you about earlier his evening. A middle-aged man and his elderly mother were found shot to death at a home on Longview Street this afternoon. A UPS driver found a note on the door while he was making a delivery. WAFF 48’s Vincent Crivelli is working to confirm the identities of the victims and gather more details as to how and why this happened.
And this week’s Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers report is a strange one. More on a man who used a large suitcase to try and convince the employees at a Huntsville Walmart that he was homeless and living out of that suitcase. But it turns out, he used that suitcase to steal over 2-thousand dollars worth of jewelry.
We hope you’ll join us for these stories and more at 10.
