HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The tools of a crook’s trade can vary – a gun, a hammer, perhaps a tire iron. But this one’s a little different: A man recently used a suitcase and a sob story to pull off a theft at a Tennessee Valley area store.

It all went down March 8 at the Walmart Supercenter on Sparkman Drive in Huntsville. Security cameras find a man pulling a suitcase behind him.

What’s up with the suitcase? According to police, the guy told employees he was homeless and carried everything he owned in that case.

However, he wound up packing more than $2,100 worth of stolen jewelry in that case and walked out.

Assuming he truly was homeless, your tips can help provide him shelter – at the Huntsville-Madison County Metro Jail.

$1,000 in reward money could be yours if you can provide information that leads to this man’s arrest.

You can phone in your anonymous tips to 256-53-CRIME (27463). Or to text or e-mail an anonymous tip, head to our Crime Stoppers page for details.
