STEVENSON, AL (WAFF) -  The search for an escaped Jackson County work-release inmate continued Wednesday, as documents show this is not the first time he has fled from authorities.

Nathan Thomas Clark left work detail in Stevenson Tuesday. Deputies said he is not considered dangerous, but should still not be approached if seen. Park officials said Clark was one of a few trustees that were helping prepare for Saturday’s July Jam at the park.

Clark was last seen Tuesday morning working on a battlefield, then later at a shop before it was noticed he was no longer around.

The charge for escape is broad; Sheriff Chuck Philips said Clark’s charge stems from an incident while he was out on probation, not while in custody. Clark failed to show for an appointment with Community Corrections.

The sheriff said Clark had been a good trustee up until Tuesday. He said they are now broadening the search for the escapee.

“We obtained an arrest warrant for him and entered him into our computer,” said Sheriff Philips. “We got information about girlfriends and family, and we spoke with some of the family.”

Sheriff Philips said Clark’s days as a trustee are numbered. Anyone with information about Clark’s whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement.
