LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - More than 300 marijuana plants were seized by agents in Lauderdale County.

The bust happened in the Cloverdale community Wednesday.

Agents said they hunted the pot plants from the air. A tip came in about possible marijuana plants in the Cloverdale area. They didn't have an exact location, so they relied on their eyes in the sky.

A total of 311 marijuana plants were seized from four different plots, ranging from two to seven feet tall.

Agents said that according to the Drug Enforcement Agency, the street value for a mature plant runs about $2,000 a plant.

Local agents said today's mission was a joint effort between the district attorney's office, the Alabama Beverage Commission, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Public Safety. They hope it sends a warning to the drug community.

"You don't always hear about it, but we are out there looking," said Gene Schrieber, ABC Agent. "We do get tips and if we do get a tip we will follow up and use any available resource we can: local, state, federal helicopters - it doesn't matter. "We will do anything we can to follow up and find it."

Investigators said they have received some tips as to whose plants they are, and plan on following up on those leads.
