MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -  A man was indicted on charges he attempted to solicit an underage girl online in Marshall County.

Freddie Allen Crowe of Cullman is in the Marshall County Jail, charged with electronic solicitation. He was charged in connection with an attempt to lure a 14-year-old girl from her Albertville home last year for the purposes of sex.

When the girl went missing in April 2013, police were looking for her, and an Amber Alert was issued as the investigation progressed. She was found safe, but only now, the reasons for her disappearance have been released.

Albertville police said the girl left her home in the Terrace Heights area that April and was located safe in Gadsden. Police said they learned during the investigation she had been lured from her home by Crowe.

"Apparently they had been talking for a while," said Assistant Chief Jamie Smith. "I think this was a plan... that she was going to go meet him. They got to talking to each other through a website called Mocospace."

Crowe is in the Marshall County Jail on $500,000 bond.
