Austin, TX, United States – July 1, 2014

/PressCable/ — A new online push to stop the passage of the Marketplace Fairness Act aims to give away one million informational playbooks exposing the true impact of an internet sales tax on the American marketplace. This grassroots campaign to prevent internet sales tax is headed by serial entrepreneur Jim Hudson and is completely volunteer-funded. Those interested in finding out more can do so directly on the website.

The grassroots effort has grown from an effort to stop the spread of the Amazon sales tax requirement for affiliates to one that encompasses all small retailers regardless of selling platform.

The Marketplace Fairness Act is a piece of legislation which compels internet retailers to collect and remit sales tax for all customers, whether in-state or out of state. Currently, nearly half the states in the US are covered by this legislation, and the expectation is that more will join.

When asked why the site is spearheading the renewed effort to stop the widespread passage of the bill, Mr. Hudson had this to say:

“Currently, major online retailers are working to craft legislation that is in their own best interests, and not in the best interests of small businesses or consumers. These so-called fair taxes will place undue strain on small online marketers who sell goods across state lines. Because of this, the bigger companies will have the ability to repress new and innovative companies that don’t have a lot of funding or major corporate backing.”

The volunteers and organizers behind the push to kill the internet sales tax law believe that through a unified outcry against the measure has the potential to reverse current legislation and stop the passage of the Marketplace Fairness Act.

Concerned consumers and small business owners are invited to view a concise informational video detailing the issues currently at stake. Those who are interested in finding out more can do so via the site created to stop the passage of the Marketplace Fairness Act – InternetSalesTaxforDummies.com.
