DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police arrested four people on various drug-related charges following an investigation they said lasted several months.

Organized Crime Unit officers said Demetrius Peterson sold marijuana on three separate occasions during the investigation. Pedro Acosta was observed selling pot on one occasion.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Peterson's residence on 15th Avenue Tuesday. There, they made contact with Sequoia Peterson, Jesus Mendez, two juveniles and a toddler.

Pot, drug-sale paraphernalia were found in the residence, along with several handguns in a safe. One of the handguns was reported stolen in Madison County.

Acosta was arrested when officers saw him approach a neighbor's house during the investigation. He was charged with distribution of a controlled substance.

Demetrius Peterson arrived at the residence a short time later and was also arrested on three counts of distribution, first-degree marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sequoia Peterson was arrested and charged with second-degree marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mendez was arrested and charged with second-degree marijuana possession and loitering in a drug house.
